GC qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983 and joined Prestasi Insurance Brokers (now Indwe Risk Services) in 1986. During his seven years at Prestasi, he held directorships at various companies in the Prestasi group of companies. He started Barton from scratch in January 2000 and built it, through long hours of hard work, dedicated staff and loyal policyholders, into a successful national short-term insurance broking firm, offering the full range of short-term insurance solutions to individuals and businesses. When he is not slaving away under a mountain of paperwork, he enjoys jogging and he loves to travel through Africa in his 4×4.
Wendy Groth
Manager: Special Projects
Wendy’s involvement began in 2000. Since then, she has embarked on an array of different positions in short-term insurance, each time learning more, getting more experience and receiving some well-deserved awards to add to her collection. In her private capacity, Wendy has mastered a very unique set of “butt-kicking” skills in various types of martial arts. The disciplined nature of these help significantly in her role as Project Manager. She is motivated and energetic, always striving to reach her personal and professional goals. Barton’s absolute go-to for everything, our Executive Assistant is our strongest asset and the glue that holds it all together. Jade proactively supports the Barton objectives and goals. Her friendly, welcoming nature and willingness to help, is something we can’t survive without. She will kick anyone’s butt in online gaming and knows about the latest tech developments.

After almost 40 years in the insurance industry, Vic has truly seen it all. He has witnessed or participated in almost every new insurance related development over the past four decades. With many industry related and legal qualifications, his knowledge and expertise in short-term insurance is unsurpassed. He is an enormous asset to Barton. When he doesn’t peruse some or other legal journal, he enjoys hunting and quiet time spent outdoors.
Gareth Rees-Gibbs

Barton’s resident Bowls Pro, Gareth, joined Barton 10 years ago as a result of our nationally acclaimed Perfect Delivery Bowls product. As a bowler, he saw the value that our product brought to the sport. Gareth brought with him extensive knowledge of an array of insurance products, coupled with his full insurance qualifications and many insurance related accolades that he has received over the past 20 years and more.

Prudence has dreamed of becoming a Commercial and HNWI Specialist for many years. Other than enjoying a good run and spending time with her family, she is considered to be one of our top Personal lines Portfolio Managers. After studying and some hard work, Dreams do come true! Prudence now focuses on delivering specialised insurance solutions as a Commercial and HNWI Portfolio Manager.
Riaan Gobie
Claims Manager: Personal Lines
Riaan has a true passion for teaching and helping those in need so it’s fitting that 10 years ago, Riaan chose personal lines claims as his field of speciality. His gracious heart, excellent industry knowledge and qualifications mean that he is the person we need most when disaster strikes. When he does not work, he teaches children to play soccer or volunteers at the local SPCA.
Yolandi Ferreira
Commercial & HNI Manager
Since 2011, Yolandi has dedicated her career to managing, maintaining and growing the commercial and HNI department. She has a flair for the exotic and passion for perfection. This, combined with her extensive knowledge of travel insurance and HNI products, makes her a good Barton asset. She hopes to, one day, issue her own travel insurance policy for a trip around the world.

Alta has a very long and successful career, comprising more than 20 years, as a multi-skilled insurance professional, specialising in personal lines underwriting. You know you are dealing with the right manager when you get through to her. Her vast technical knowledge and attention to detail, makes her a leader in her field, as well as a wonderful asset to Barton and its clients. Twenty years ago, Bianca found her passion for helping people as a personal lines underwriter and quickly established herself as a top go-to person for getting insurance problems resolved. With a full qualification in short-term insurance and many other industry related accolades under her belt, she still provides the same services and absolute dedication to each client she comes across. Bianca is in her element when she is surrounded by friends, family and the great outdoors.
Leanda De Beer
Sales Manager: Personal Lines
Making something new is Leanda’s greatest passion. This ranges from building miniature doll houses, painting a beautiful piece of art or planting a new garden. So, it is no surprise that her career path focuses on new business. As our Sales Manager she puts her passions, 19 years of insurance experience and vast technical underwriting knowledge to good use, making sure that every new policy passes her strict quality control test and nothing is ever overlooked. She makes sure each client’s insurance needs are taken care of at a price they can afford.
